Commission Paintings

Original Paintings, Commissioned Thoughtfully

I accept a limited number of commissioned painting projects each year.

Commissioned work is appropriate when a specific scale, proportion, or visual presence is required—whether for a private residence, a hospitality space, or a personal collection where an existing work isn’t quite the right fit.

My approach to commissions is collaborative, structured, and grounded in making work that lives comfortably and confidently in its intended space.

What Can Be Commissioned

I work primarily in oil on canvas, producing both non-objective and figurative paintings.

A common working size is 60 × 72 inches, though I regularly execute work at significantly larger dimensions.
Scale, orientation, and proportion are determined in response to the space rather than a fixed formula.

Commissioned projects may include:

  • Single large-scale paintings
  • Multi-panel works (diptychs, triptychs, or extended series)
  • Pieces developed to suit a specific wall, room, or architectural condition

Who Commissions Work

Commissioned paintings are requested by:

  • Interior designers and architects
  • Private collectors
  • Homeowners working independently
  • Hospitality and residential project teams

You do not need to be a designer to commission a painting.
The same care and process applies whether the project is trade-led or personal.

The Commission Process

While each project is unique, commissions generally follow a clear and respectful structure:

  • Initial conversation to understand scale, context, and intent
  • Agreement on approximate dimensions, medium, and timeline
  • Development of the work with attention to proportion, palette, and presence
  • Completion, finishing, and delivery coordinated to suit the project

I do not produce replicas of existing paintings.
Each commissioned work is developed as an original piece.

Scale, Timeline, and Availability

Commissioned works are scheduled in advance and created deliberately rather than on rush timelines.

Larger-scale or multi-panel projects may require extended lead times.
Availability varies throughout the year.

If timing is critical, this can be discussed early in the conversation.

Pricing

Pricing for commissioned work is based on:

  • Scale and complexity
  • Number of panels (if applicable)
  • Scope of the project

Trade pricing or commission structures are available for designers and architects when appropriate.

Pricing for private collectors is discussed directly and transparently.

Inquiries

If you are considering a commissioned painting—either for a specific space or as a personal acquisition—I welcome an initial conversation.

Please include any relevant details such as:

  • Intended location or use
  • Approximate size range
  • Timeline considerations (if any)

You do not need to have everything defined at the outset.
